An awareness campaign, ‘Prayas’, featuring a series of Nukkad Nataks (street plays), was organized to promote safety of worker (Shramik) at the construction sites of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project. The campaign reached over 13,000 workers across more than 100 construction sites along the MAHSR corridor.
A two-part series was conducted this year in the months of June and December. The main objective of organizing these Nukkad Nataks was to raise awareness and educate workers about the critical importance of safety at construction sites through an engaging and interactive format. The performances aimed to engage and educate workers while emphasizing key safety measures that can prevent accidents and protect their well-being.
Essential safety topics such as the correct use of safety equipment, adherence to safety guidelines, emergency response protocols, safety precautions at height and the importance of maintaining a safe work environment were showcased in the plays to capture the attention of workers and to effectively communicate safety messages.
The workers at the Bullet Train construction sites come from different regions of the country, speaking different languages and dialects. To effectively communicate the safety message to this diverse workforce, the language used in the street plays was kept simple, clear, and easy to understand for all.
The campaign covered all casting yards, tunnel shafts, under construction stations, depots, bridges and viaducts.
