Thousands of workers are engaged at various construction sites of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project. Giving priority to worker safety and reinforcing the importance of safety practices, National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) organised a Nukkad Natak series ‘Prayas’ at its construction sites.
During this campaign, held from 23rd February to 7th March 2026, around 6,000 workers across different construction sites were sensitised about workplace safety. Through this ten-day series, workers were made aware of the importance of maintaining safety at construction sites.
During the programme, artists delivered engaging and impactful performances encouraging workers to mandatorily use safety equipment such as helmets, harness belts, safety shoes, and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) kits.
Under this initiative, 40 construction sites across the corridor were covered, including 24 sites in Gujarat and 16 in Maharashtra. These locations included stations, casting yards, tunnels, depots, bridges, and viaduct construction sites, where a large number of workers are actively engaged.
Through these street plays, workers were also given several important and practical safety messages, such as taking responsibility for their own safety and that of their co-workers, avoiding shortcuts and following prescribed safety rules, not undertaking work without proper training, assessing potential risks before starting work, and maintaining cleanliness and caution at the workplace.
This initiative, which has been conducted at the Bullet Train project’s construction sites for the past three years, is proving to be an effective step towards increasing safety awareness among workers and strengthening a culture of safe working practices. It reinforces the message that work can be carried out safely and confidently only by adhering to safety rules and precautions.
